Bromélia House

The main idea of the project was to implant a residential unit in a space still without surrounding buildings that could adapt to the constructed space in future, promoting visual, thermal, and acoustic comfort to the dwellers, taking advantage of the region’s climate conditions. Taking this into consideration, a building with two displaced floors was proposed, connected by floating stairs inside a large window of 4m x 4m.

The request was delivered and on the first floor there is a large living room, a kitchen, a lavatory, and a service area. The main bedroom is located on the second floor with an integrated closet and bathroom, as well as two further bedrooms, one social bathroom, a hall and a balcony. Light industrial materials with simple techniques and fast execution were used to reduce the total cost. Therefore materials that are easily found such as glass, laminated wood, concrete, and stone were used.
